Tax calculators that give you the answer
Every one of these gives you a full result and the working behind it, with no email address and no account. We built them because the numbers that catch people out — the payment on account especially — are the ones nobody explains until it is too late.
All figures are for the 2026/27 tax year and checked against GOV.UK on 12 September 2026.
Every rate we use is listed with its source at the foot of each calculator.
How much tax will I pay for 2026/27?
Income tax, Class 4 National Insurance and the payment on account, for 2026/27 — with every step of the working shown.
Do I pay tax on what I sell online?
eBay, Vinted, Etsy, Depop. Whether you are trading at all, the £1,000 test, and whether the platform will report you.
What can I claim as a self-employed expense?
Tick off what you have spent, see what actually comes off your bill — and the things people try to claim and cannot.
When does Making Tax Digital apply to me?
April 2026, 2027 or 2028 — worked out from your gross self-employment and property income, before expenses.
How much can I give under Gift Aid on a pension?
Pensions, savings interest and dividends often carry less tax than people think. See how much Gift Aid your tax actually covers — and whether HMRC could ask for some back.
We don't gate the answer
No email field before a result. No blurred figure. The complete breakdown is there for someone who never types an address — because a tool that holds your own number hostage is not a tool.
We show the working
Personal allowance, each tax band, Class 4, the payment on account — every step labelled in plain English. A bare total teaches you nothing about whether we know what we are doing.
We check every figure against GOV.UK
Every rate and threshold is sourced and dated, and the calculations are reviewed by Rob before they go live. A calculator that is wrong does more damage than no calculator.
Rather someone just did it?
£25 a month covers your quarterly updates, your year-end return and questions all year, and the first month is free.
