Who we are not right for

In short

Do you have personal income to report? A job, self-employment, rent, dividends, a pension, savings or money from abroad — we can help with your tax return and Making Tax Digital, even if you live overseas.

Do you need company accounts, Corporation Tax, VAT returns, payroll or investment advice? We're not for you.

You need company accounts, Corporation Tax, VAT or payroll

We file your personal return, including the salary and dividends you take from your own company. We do not prepare the company's accounts or its Corporation Tax return, VAT returns, or payroll. If you need those as well, you need a firm that does both, or one firm for the company and us for you. The same goes for VAT: if your turnover is approaching the £90,000 registration threshold, you need VAT capacity in place before the threshold rather than after it.

You need investment or pension advice

We are not authorised to give it. If your question is really "should I put this into a pension?", that is a question for a regulated financial adviser, and we will say so rather than answer it.

You might not need to file at all

This is the one people find hardest to believe. If your gross trading income for the year is £1,000 or less, the trading allowance may mean you have nothing to report. If you sold your own used clothes on Vinted, you were not trading and there may be nothing to declare, even if the platform has shared your data with HMRC. Ministers of religion filing the SA102M pages are automatically exempt from Making Tax Digital beyond April 2027. Our free checker takes about thirty seconds and we would rather you used it than paid us for nothing.

You enjoy doing it yourself

Some people do, and they tend to do it well. HMRC's online return is free to use. Our guides are written to be useful to you whether or not you ever become a client.

What we do take on

Anyone whose tax is dealt with through a personal Self Assessment return. Employees with a side income, benefits to declare, or a High Income Child Benefit Charge to settle. Sole traders and freelancers. Landlords, in the UK or abroad. Company directors taking salary and dividends. People living abroad with UK income, and people in the UK with income from abroad. People with more than one of those on the same return — a teacher who tutors, a nurse doing agency shifts, a plumber with a flat to let. Ministers of religion on the SA102M pages. Locum doctors and other professionals mixing PAYE and self-employed work. First-time filers who have never done this before and would rather not learn. People already inside Making Tax Digital who now have five deadlines a year instead of one.

Want it done for you?

If you have read this list and none of it describes you, we are probably a good fit — £25 a month, first month free. If one of them does describe you, we have said so for a reason, and we would rather you spent your money well elsewhere.
